Here is my Abu Garcia Veritas 2.0 review.

Casting rods are not as simple as spinning rods. You need to know what you’re doing and to have some experience using them. Likewise, choosing the suitable one for you is also tricky and needs some experience. 

In this article, I am reviewing Abu Garcia Veritas 2.0 Casting rod. I spent some time doing my research in order to review it properly. Veritas 2.0 is one of the newer generation of Abu Garcia rods. It focuses on maintaining weight, sensitivity and strength at the same time. 

I will go into detail considering its main features and downsides. I will also summarise its pros and cons along with some alternatives at the end of the article.

Now, let’s take a closer look at the main features of Abu Garcia Veritas 2.0 Casting Rod:

The Graphite Construction

Abu Garcia Veritas 2.0 blank is made of 30 ton graphite. It’s characterised by being perfectly sensitive while preserving the strength required to handle big fish. 

The spiral carbon core construction also increases the rod resistance to break, especially the tip area. Carbon is known for being durable and strong. It improves the tip strength which is crucially required for a fast action rod, as it’s the most stressed part of fast action rods. 

Reel Seat

Abu Garcia has designed its reel seat to deliver maximum exposure to the blank. The maximum exposure increases the constant with the blank which works on improving both strength and sensitivity. 

The micro click hood design makes it fit well with the rod. The reel seat is also ratcheting and produces sound when you tighten it which sounds satisfying and cool. It also helps keep the reel tightened, so you don’t have to worry about it coming loose.

The Guides

The guides are made of titanium alloy which is strong and lightweight, so it won’t put more strain on your hands. Also, they are supported with Zirconium inserts which are strong and very smooth. It’s hard and has better thermal properties than most guide types. It reduces the friction, wear and heat build up. They deliver smooth long casts with a durable performance.

EVA Foam Handle

EVA is a high density synthetic material which is highly durable and sensitive. It’s not as comfortable or sensitive as cork handles, but it’s easier to clean and doesn’t get dents as easily as cork. If you’re someone who likes to keep their gear as clean as possible, you definitely gonna love this handle.

The handles are actually flattened on both sides which is extremely advantageous if you’re a crankbait angler. The flattened sides of Abu Garcia Veritas 2.0 enables you to stick the rod butt into your rib cage to reduce fatigue without having much pain. 

The Power

Power is a crucial factor that you need to check before purchasing a rod. Veritas 2.0 Casting rod ranges in medium to heavy power rating in all sizes. Is it a good or a bad thing?

Well, it’s neither of them. The thing is it highly depends on your target species. The power of this rod is suitable for aggressive small species fish like the large types of trout or bass. It can also handle big fish, but not those surf fishing species. 

The Action

The action is important because it defines which species you’re going to target. Abu Garcia Veritas 2.0 comes in 3 actions to choose from: Fast, Moderate-fast and Moderate. 

All of them are generally suitable for catching small species that require high sensitivity and quick hooks like trout, bass and panfish. You don’t want to use it for deep sea fishing because it won’t handle large species very well. It’s not suitable for surf fishing as well.

The fast action is supported with a strong tip thanks to the spiral carbon construction which prevents the tip from snipping off during fights. 

Different Lengths Options

It offers a variety of length options to choose from. You need to choose the suitable lengths for you wisely. The shorter version (less than 7 feet) casts accurately while the longer version (above 7 ft.) casts for longer distances.

Final Verdict

I think this is the end of my review of Abu Garcia Veritas 2.0. I think that it’s a quality rod. It’s made of high quality material which provides sensitivity and lightweight without sacrificing the strength required to handle fights with fish. 

I also liked the titanium alloy guides along with the zirconium inserts that deliver smooth casts. So, all in all, I think it’s a worthy casting rod.
